Statistical Amazers – India Vs New Zealand Second Test match at Christchurch, Feb 29-March 2 2020

  1. Unlike the last test in Wellington, that had only two 50+ scores, six batsman scored a fifty and one was dismissed for 49 (Man of the match, Jamieson).
  2. Jadeja is now the only Indian bowler to have dismissed Ross Taylor twice in the entire series (ODIs, T20 and Test matches all included).
  3. Virat Kohli has been dismissed by four different bowlers in the two tests (Jamieson, Boult, Southee and Grandhomme). Kohli is Jamieson’s second international Test wicket. Southee and Boult have now claimed Kohli’s wicket thrice each in 5 tests and 9 tests, respectively.
  4. The loss is India’s sixth in the 12 Tests played outside India in the last two years. 11 of those 12 tests have been decisive.
  5. There was no bowler from either sides going wicketless in the Test match.
  6. Latham’s back to back fifty adds to his tally to 18 in 52 Tests so far. Since his 105 vs England in the first innings in the Hamilton Test in November 2009, Latham had scored just 162 runs in 9 innings with just one 50 (all as an opening batsman). He had scored 752 in his 9 innings prior to his 105 against England.
  7. Kane Williamson won his 18th Test match as a captain and his second against India. He has led the team in 32 Tests so far.
