Vivo IPL 2021 Match 15 Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders – April 21, 2021 – Statistical Amazers

Russell’s and Cummins heroics were not enough to chase a steep target as Chennai tops the table
  1. The last Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match witnessed the fastest 100 being scored by a team (CSK) of 11.2 overs. In this game yet again, CSK scored 100 in 11.2 overs, however now Kolkata Knight Riders hold the fastest 100 record of this IPL by scoring that in 10.2 overs in this match.
  2. CSK becomes the fourth team (in 3 matches) to score 200+ in this IPL. In all the three matches the team batting first scored the highest runs.
  3. Ruturaj Gaikwad (64) finally came to the party after registering just 20 runs in his last 3 innings. Prior to his slump he had three back to back fifties.
  4. Faf du Plessis’ unbeaten 95 is his second highest IPL score and second score in the nineties. He also won his fifth player of the match award. He is also fourth among the top run getters list in this IPL with 164 runs.
  5. On how many occasions has Suresh Raina did not bat? Just 5 times in his 197 IPL matches. His last “did not bat” instance was in the 2013 edition of IPL.
  6.  Shardul Thakur is continuing to be consistent in being way too expensive. He was easily the most expensive bowler in the entire game and also shows up twice in the top 10 most expensive bowlers list for this IPL. He is also second among the bowlers to have given most runs (156), just one run below Prasidh Krishna, who played for KKR in this match.
  7. Sunil Narine (1-37) came back into the KKR side for the first time in this IPL.. He also broke the streak of being wicket-less in his last 4 IPL matches.
  8. Russell scored his first 50 in this IPL in a typical fashion of just 21 balls, just one ball shy of Deepak Hooda’s record of 20 balls for this IPL. Pat Cummins managed to score his 50 in 23 balls. His 50 is also his ninth in 65 innings and the first in his last 16 innings.
  9. The entire CSK team scored 12 sixes, which was matches by just Russell and Cummins alone, both scored 6 sixes each.
  10. Pat Cummins’ unbeaten 66 is his second IPL fifty and his IPL career best score. He also gave away 58 runs of his 4 overs.
  11. Deepak Chahar was back among the wickets after a blip in the previous match. He had an excellent 4-29 in a high scoring match and is now tied with his cousin, Rahul Chahar of Mumbai Indians in second position among leading wicket takers in this IPl.
  12. Three KKR batsmen (Varun, Shubman and Prasidh) were all dismissed for golden ducks. Doesn’t help when chasing a steep target.
  13. Ravindra Jadeja claimed a catch and is now the joint leader for most catches in this IPL with Shikar Dhawan.
  14. In back to back matches, a CSK bowler has bowled 5 wides, Dwayne Bravo in their last match and Shardul Thakur in this match.
  15. Chennai, with their 3 consecutive wins are now topping the table, however this is just their tenth win in their last 20 matches.
