- Rahul Chahar (1-29) has been among the wickets in his last 3 IPL matches and is now the second highest wicket-taker in this edition with 8 wickets, alongside Delhi Capital’s (DC) Avesh Khan who took 2 wickets in the match.
- Shikhar Dhawan (45) interestingly was the leading run scorer from both the teams in a match that witnessed 275 runs being scored. He retains the Orange cap as the leading run getter (231 runs in 4 matches) in this IPL edition so far and has a 55-run lead over nearest rival, Glenn Maxwell (176 runs in 3 matches).
- Now we have no fifties scored in back to back games in this IPL. There were none in the Chennai Super Kings – Rajasthan Royals game yesterday as well. Incidentally this is the second game in this edition involving Mumbai Indians (MI) in which no batsman scored a fifty, the first instance being the tournament opener vs Royal Challengers Bangalore.
- Rohit Sharma (44) was dismissed in the forties for the second time in 4 matches. He has scored just one fifty in his last 10 IPL innings, which was in the final of the 2020 edition, incidentally against DC.
- The last time MI met DC, almost the same Mumbai team played except for Nathan Coulter-Nile played in the last edition’s final and Rahul Chahar played in this match.
- As many as 9 of the 12 bowlers were among the wickets from both teams in the match. Interestingly Ashwin and Boult, who started with the new ball for each side and bowled their full quota of overs went wicketless.
- Ashwin is going through a lean patch as his wicketless spell extends to just 1 wicket in his last 6 and 6 wickets in his last 11 IPL games.
- Amit Mishra (4-24) has now claimed four wicket haul four times in IPL. He has one five wicket haul as well.
- DC becomes the second team to chase a target set by MI in the Chennai MAC stadium in this edition. RCB successfully chased MI’s target in the tournament opener. All other games in this venue have been won by the team batting first.
- Incidentally 137 has not been a lucky score in this venue as two teams have exactly scored that and ended up on the losing side (MI in this game and Sun Risers Hyderabad in Match 9.
- Mumbai Indians beat their own record of reaching the slowest 100 runs in this IPL as they took 14.4 overs to reach that in this match.
- Hardik Pandya (0) is continuing to have poor form with the bat as he was dismissed first ball and has managed just 35 runs in his 4 matches so far in this edition.
