  5. New Zealand hit a mammoth thirteen sixes including seven by Ross Taylor alone in contrast to just two sixes hit by Pakistan.
  6. Umar Gul was the only Pakistan batsman who had a good match overall. He claimed three wickets, scored a career best unbeaten 34 and was involved in a 66 run ninth wicket partnership with Abdur Razzaq.
  7. Martin Guptill’s 57 is his second and consecutive fifty in World cup matches and eleventh overall in his limited overs career.
  8. Abdur Razzaq had an indifferent match. He gave away 49 runs at 12.25 runs per over and scored 62 runs (top score for Pakistan) of 74 deliveries coming into bat at number 8.
  9. Ross Taylor, prior to his 131 in this match had scored just 114 runs in his 7 World cup innings.
  10. Taylor’s 131 is also his career best one day score and his fourth ton.

  1. The match witnessed just two half centurions (Porterfield and Yuvraj Singh).
  2. Virender Sehwag for three consecutive matches in a row has opened the scoring with a boundary.

Match 21 – England Vs South Africa at Chennai


  1. The victory for England is their first in three World cup matches.
  2. It took almost just the half the runs they scored against India and Ireland to win the match, in a different venue, though (Chennai).
  3. Chennai has been a witness to low scoring matches in this World cup edition so far and no team has scored more than 175.
