Match 18 – New Zealand Vs Zimbabwe at Ahmedabad

  1. New Zealand played just their second match in Ahmedabad, both the matches not against India and has won both the matches.
  2. Hamish Bennett, who claimed 6 wickets for New Zealand in the first 2 matches was the only New Zealand bowler to have bowled more than 4 overs and didn’t claim a wicket.
  3. Utseya, Cremer and Price, batted at numbers 8, 9 and 10 respectively for Zimbabwe and scored nearly 43% of the total score.
  4. Interestingly both the teams conceded just 4 extras respectively.
  5. This victory margin (10 wickets) is already New Zealand’s second in the tournament in three matches.
  6. Tim Southee (3-29) has now claimed 59 wickets in 46 matches. Interestingly, Southee has claimed just 7 wickets in his last seven matches after his five wicket haul against Pakistan in Wellington in January 2011.
  7. Martin Guptill’s unbeaten 86 is his first in World cup matches and tenth overall in his limited overs career. His two sixes in the match has ensured that he maintains his better sixes:matches ration as he has already scored 31 sixes in his 45 innings career so far.
  8. Brendon McCullum’s unbeaten 76 is also just his second World cup fifty in 13 innings and 19th overall in his career.
